love like coffee

[1]
“milo and coffee. Mana awak lagi prefer?” tanya Nurrin. Dia kalih kesebelah, kearah Qayyum yang sedang menghirup minumannya.
“kenapa tanya?” Qayyum meletakkan semula mug ke atas meja.
“just curious. Awak tak pernah minum minuman lain selain coffee.”
“well, it’s my favourite.”
“bukan ke coffee ada caffeine.”
“so?”
“so cik abang. Caffeine tu tak elok untuk kesihatan.”
“says who?”
“says me.”
“boleh ke percaya cakap Nurrin?”
“hey. Nurrin tak tipu la. Lagipun memang dah terbukti yang coffee memang tak bagus untuk kesihatan. Dalam newspaper, dalam majalah semuanya cakap coffee langsung tak baik apa-apa kebaikan. It has more harmful effects than benefit, you know.”
“yeah. Yeah.”
“Nurrin cakap betul la. Erm, why don’t you try another drink?” Qayyum melipat kembali suratkhabar diatas meja.
“why bother?”
“ha?”
“kenapa Nurrin tiba-tiba concern?” dia mendekatkan wajahnya kepada Nurrin.
“I’m not.”
“so?”
“it just....” Nurrin gementar apabila melihat Qayyum semakin mendekatinya.
“yes?”
“nurrin tak suka bancuh coffee. Dah penat!” ujar Nurrin sambil menundukkan kepalanya.
“penat? Well, you have to since i’m your beloved hubby..” serentak, terasa satu kucupan lembut didahinya.
Nurrin masih lagi menundukkan kepalanya.
Nurrin mengeluh lembut. Cukuplah buat hatiku kencang!
“Nurrin! Cepat masuk nanti nyamuk gigit Qayyum tak tahu.” Jerit Qayyum dari dalam rumah.
Sekali lagi Nurrin mengeluh.
Tangan Qayyum kelihatan memicit perlahan kepalanya.
“sakit kepala?” tanya Nurrin lagi. dia melabuhkan punggung disebelah Qayyum
“i told you. minum coffee banyak-banyak mana bagus. Kan dah sakit kepala. Kalau awak tak minum banyak coffee tu mesti tak sakit kepala kan? kalau sehari kalau awak tak minum 3 cawan coffee memang tak beleh ke? Secawan coffee sehari pun dah tak elok, ni kan 3 cawan”
“shut up. Please.”
“see. Saya nasihat awak bukannya nak dengar. De..”
“told you to shut up.” Nurrin freeze.Qayyum nak buat apa ni?
“you know what. I love to see this beautiful face of yours especially when it blushes. Red. It makes me..”
“Qayyum.”
“what?”
“I thought you like it.”
Nurrin masih lagi kaku.
“stop it.”
“why?”
“i have the right, you know.”
“please.”
“alright. Off you go.” Tiba-tiba sahaja Qayyum melepaskan pelukannya. Nurrin segera bangun dari sofa itu.
“buatkan saya..”
“coffee?”
“awak memang sentiasa tahu apa yang saya nak kan?”
“Qayyum.”
“nurrin. Sekali lagi awak continue bebel-bebel awak tu instead of bancuh coffee saya, I think we have to continue...”
“okay. Saya buat sekarang.”
Kaki Nurin segera melangkah ke dapur.
Qayyum. Bila nak berubah? orang sakit makan ubat, tapi dia? kopi pekat. Memang mujarab ubat tu.
[3]
Fairytale? Yes, it is. Just like that.
“kenapa saya kena kahwin dengan awak?”
“mug saya pecah.”
“saya boleh ganti okay?”
“that mug is special.”
“kenapa serve pada pelanggan kalau special? Why don’t you keep it in your office?”
“i’m the owner. I can do whatever I want.”
“you are such a idiot.”
“am I?”
“yes.”
“cakap la apa yang awak nak cakap. I don’t care. You’ll be mine.”
“yeah. In your dream.”
“we’ll see.”
Everything.
[4]
“why don’t you try?” Qayyum menghulurkan mug kepada Nurrin.
“coffee?” Qayyum mengangguk.
“saya mana boleh minum coffee.”
“why?”
“nanti perut meragam.”
“is that your excuse?”
“betul la.”
“awak tak minum coffee, bukannya sebab dia pahit?”
“well. Coffee memang pahit, kan?”
“yes. But then coffee ada banyak jenis. Pernah dengar expresso? Cafe latte?” Nurrin mengangguk.
“cafe latte It is a coffee beverage consisting of strong coffee, sometimes espresso mixed with milk in a 1:1 ratio. Senang kata coffee dan susu.”
“espresso?”
“espresso is like strong coffee. Pahit.”
“banyak lagi jenis coffee. And it depends on combination of espresso and milk.”
“Nurrin tengok lain-lain kedai, lain rasa coffee dia. how come?”
“well, itu bergantung pada coffee bean yang diorang guna.”
Nurrin mengangguk-angguk mendengar penjelasan Qayyum.
“tak sangka Nurrin berminat nak tahu.”
“even Nurrin tak minum coffee tapi Nurin expert bancuh okay?”
“of course you are. You’re my wife after all.”
[5]
“kenapa kita kahwin?”
“sebab Nurrin pecahkan mug”
“i don’t think that’s the real reason, am i right?”
“nurrin rasa?”
“entah. Sebab tu Nurrin tanya Qayyum.”
“well..”
“i’m waiting.”
“nak jawapan yang honest atau tipu?”
“of course lah nak yang honest.”
“ok.”
“Qayyum perlukan someone yang pandai bancuh coffee.”
“Qayyum perlukan someone yang akan bancuh my coffee setiap hari. every morning and every night. Setiap masa. “
“ you complete me. Qayyum hanya pandai minum tapi tak pandai bancuh. Nurrin tak suka minum tapi pandai bancuh. Is that a great combination, or what?”
“is that is?”
Qayyum mengangguk.
“mengarut.”
“kalau Nurin tak percaya,it’s okay.”
“Qayyum serius?”
“damn i am.”
“kenapa Nurrin? Kita tak pernah jumpa sebelum tu.”
“i’m an observer, and I know.”
“Nurrin tak percaya.”
“bergantung pada Nurrin nak percaya atau tak.”
“i’m off to bed.”
“wait..”
“apa?”
“buatkan coffee.”
“tengah malam pun nak?”
“yes.”
“strong one, please.”
“nak stay up?”
“have to.”
“kenapa?”
“paperwork.”
Nurrin bangun dan menuju ke dapur. Boleh percaya kata-kata Qayyum ke?
[6]
Who said that love is sweet? It’s hot and bittersweet. Almost like coffee.
“pernah dengar?” Nurrin menggeleng.
“that’s my love for you.”
“again, kenapa coffee? Kenapa tak milo?”
“milo terlalu manis.”
“it’s not.”
“yes it is. Milo terlalu manis. Tak bagus.”
“habis, coffee yang ada cafein tu bagus?”
“here we go. You and your kesihatan talk.”
“i’m serious.”
“ada research yang cakap, at some stage cafein boleh menyebabkan cancer. and i don’t want to lose you. not for now.”
“Nurrin?”
“Nurrin tahu Nurrin bodoh sebab fall in love dengan orang yang macam qayyum. Keras kepala dan suka minum coffee. Someone yang totally opposite dengan Nurin. But it just happen.”
“are you serious?”
“yes. Setiap kali Nurrin bancuh coffee setiap kali tu lah Nurrin bimbang tentang Qayyum. You drink too much cafein. “
“i’m afraid you’ll leave me. Alone.”
Qayyum menarik senyuman lalu memeluk erat Nurrin.
“Nurrin rosakkan semua.”
“apa?”
“the mood.”
“kenapa?”
“Qayyum yang sepatutnya kena confess dulu. But then, Nurrin dah confess. not fair.”
“penting ke siapa yang confess dulu?”
“Qayyum lelaki. I have to confess first.”
“mana ada kitab cakap lelaki kena confess dulu.”
“in my kitab, yes it is.”
“yeah right.”
“so, Nurrin NAjwa. I’m in love with you. my love grows every time i drink your home-made coffee. And it still growing.”
“only that time?”
“every moment i spent with you. every moment when you talk with me about the healthy-stuff. Every time when you bring that mug to me. Every second. Every minute. every day. I’m falling for you.”
“me too Qayyum Farhim.”
“Qayyum.”
“yes?”
“I wont stop talking about the healthy stuff.”
“i know. Dan qayyum takkan berhenti minum coffee.”
